Red Rooster
As many of you likely know we were members of the Red Rooster wine club in 2009 and 2010 (we decided not to join this year in order to be able to try more new to us wines) and have tasted numerous wines from them. A couple of our more recent tastings included their Meritage and their Syrah (click the link to read the previous blogs). So with a number of bottles of Red Rooster in our wine rack we decided on a bottle of the Red Rooster Malbec (2007) tonight.
Red Rooster Malbec
Red Rooster is brewed on a piece of the Naramata Bench near Penticton, B.C. The Malbec grapes are hand picked from the vines and contain dark fruit flavors. It was a great match for Jeff’s braised rack of ribs with mashed potatoes but a bit heavy with Tara’s cucumber salad and bread. The wine had a very nice finish. We think the wine is a good value at $24.99 and is typically found in local wine shops.
