BC Wineries
Having spent almost 2 months in West Kelowna this Spring we visited our share of wineries (some more than once). We’ve already blogged about the Magma White and Eruption Red from Volcanic Hills. You can read those posts here. Volcanic Hills has long been one of our favourites and when you ‘live’ (in our case, stay) 5 minutes away it’s easy to go back and stock up. We did that a couple of times with the Magma Red, and have another visit planned next week when we are going to be in Kelowna again.

Magma Red
The Magma Red quickly became one of our favourite red wines in West Kelowna. Partially because it was easy drinking and partially because of its price, $18.00/ bottle. The Magma Red is a blend of Zweigelt (41%), Merlot (38%), Marechal (8%), Pinot Noir (8%) and Gamay Noir (6%) which are all grape varieties we love. It’s a fairly light tasting wine with a great mix of fruit, like you would expect in the Okanagan. It’s also a very easy drinking red that we think could pair with just about anything. The next time you are in West Kelowna drop by their winery for a tasting (free with a bottle purchase)!
