Desert Hills Estate Winery
It was a while ago that we actually visited this winery (Summer 2010 I think) and in January we tasted a Desert Hills Syrah, you can read that blog here. Desert Hills is located in the Wine Capital of Canada near Oliver, BC.  The winery is small compared to others in the region at 24 acres and has been a family estate winery since production began in 1995 (although the land was purchased in 1988).

Desert Hills Gamay
We tasted the 2010 Desert Hills Gamay on this day. The wine is light red in colour had some great cherry and plum smells. The taste was great and the cherry fruit was prominent along with some plum and vanilla flavours. The wine was very light and smooth on the finish. There was also a nice hint of spice at the end. One thing we really liked about the wine is that it could be a sipping wine enjoyed without food. For $19.90 per bottle it makes the cut as one of our under $20 favourites.
