Room with a View
We needed a place to stay for one night on our last trip to Osoyoos before we met up with some family for a few days. We had heard about Walnut Beach Resort so decided to give it a try. The resort is located on the east side of Osoyoos right on Osoyoos lake with it’s own private and licensed beachfront and dock. We only had one afternoon at the resort so chose to spend it on the fabulous pool deck with a great view of the lake and the hillside.

Osoyoos lake is Canada’s warmest lake and Walnut Beach Resort has the only licensed private beach on lake Osoyoos. We visited in June on a Monday so no patio bar service was available but apparently during the summer this is a great place to hang out.

Just off the pool area are 5 industrial sized BBQ’s and a large sitting area. If you choose not to cook your own dinner the resort has The Promenade Tapas & Wine Bar restaurant which was sadly closed on Monday, the day we stayed. (They missed out.)

The pool deck has a large pool and two hot tubs. There were plenty of lounge chairs in the sun and a bit of available shade.

Every suite has some kitchen facilities. Our “Chardonnay Suite” was the smallest at 447 sq.ft and had a partial kitchen, with no stove. The one and two bedroom suites and the penthouse all have full kitchens.

All rooms feature flat screen TVs, wireless internet and DVD/mp3 players. Chardonnay suites have a partial lake view or a mountain view. We were lucky that Monday in June was not a busy day and we got a suite close to the lake with a decent view.

For a decent shoulder season rate of $159 (pre-paid online 10 days in advance) we spent a nice afternoon enjoying the sundeck and pool. The rooms are nice, new and clean but when you are in this region it is the great pool and beach areas that really matter. You will not likely spend much time in the room anyway.
