Long Stay in Yaletown
As most of you know we have rented a furnished apartment in Yaletown. We moved in on May 26th and are already making plans to move out as part of our “Location Independent Adventure – Part Deux”. We have not set a date yet as our landlord Edgar has been more than accommodating and is letting us give 30 days notice when we are ready. (PS if you are even looking for a minimum 3 month rental in Vancouver we can recommend one – this place is Sweet! ) But we have already booked most of December and early January in the Southern U.S. hoping to see some of the cities and states we missed the first time around.
Cleaning and Clearing
One of the steps in getting ready for Round 2 is to clean out our storage space. We visited the space on Commercial Drive for the first time in 10 months last week. What was supposed to be a 10 minute job to get our bikes and bike rack out turned into a 90-minute disaster! The space was so jammed that a stack of boxes had fallen against the bikes and knocked them and the rack into the door. When Jeff pulled up the door (not gently) the door popped off the track and the bike rack got lodged into the track. After a good half hour the door was open and 6 boxes came out, but the bikes stayed in. Why? Becuase we have too much crap!

How much do we really need?
The answer is VERY little. We thought we did a good job of putting our life into the back of an SUV and a 5 x 15 foot storage space. As it turns out, we can do better. We took 6 boxes out. We (actually me mostly – Tara) got a whole bunch of ‘new’ forgotten clothing and a bunch was donated and now there is only one box to go back in. We plan to do this a few more times over the summer and really only try to keep the stuff that is either very useful or very important in a sentimental or valuable way. Otherwise, its out.
Freedom over Stuff
By having very little stuff, no home to speak of, and a business that is becoming more and more ‘location diverse’ we are choosing freedom instead of belongings. One day this might change, but for now…bring on the other 4 provinces, 3 territories, 24 states, Northern Italy and the world!
We, Jeff and Tara Ciecko of CK Golf write two blogs, one is our 19th Hole Blog where we share personal experiences and the other an Industry Blog where we comment on general business and internet marketing best practices, sales strategies and give golf industry related opinions. We have owned CK Golf for 9 years and provide marketing, social media and business services to the golf and other industries. As of August 2016 our life and our business has been ‘location independent’. Our 19th Hole Blog is about the places we visit and the things we do. If you have any questions or comments, or happen to be in the same location as us please reach out and contact us anytime.
