Pensacola, Florida 
Last week we were in Pensacola Florida for a one night stop over while driving from Tampa Bay to New Orleans for our latest adventure. We choose Pensacola because it was about a 7 hour drive from Tampa Bay making the next day a shorter 4.5 hour drive to New Orleans. After checking in around 5pm we quickly discovered there was not a lot to do, particularly on a “cold” Florida late afternoon. We decided to go for a walk and see what was around the hotel. At first there did not appear to be much but as we made a loop around the hotel we spotted an Irish Pub and thought about going in for a drink. Instead we decided to walk further and as we walked across the parking lot we spotted the Gulf Coast Brewery behind the pub. Of course we had to check it out!
Gulf Coast Brewery
The Gulf Coast Brewery is located right in the heart of downtown Pensacola. The brewery had about a dozen different craft beers you could try. We choose to try a tasting flight consisting of four different beers of our choosing. Our tasting included a Blonde Ale, the Sandbar Red, a Gulf Coast Pale Ale and a Karma IPA. The four three ounce pours were $12 which we thought was pretty reasonable. The Sandbar Red was my favourite and I ordered a pint halfway through the tasting while Tara finished the remaining samples.
This falls into the category of things we didn’t expect to find in Pensacola but we are glad we did!
