Second Stage Qualifying Wrapped Up
Last week, 13 Canadians entered the second stage of qualifying for 2011 PGA Tour playing privileges. Those 13 were hoping to finish low enough at six regional qualifying sites throughout the southern US states. Each of the 13 Canadians were looking to move one step closing to joining Stephan Ames, Graham Delaet and Mike Weir who are exempt for 2011.

Six Moving On
Following the second stage only six Canadians played well enough and are moving on to the final stage qualifying. They include:

  • Matt McQuillan of Kingston, ON
  • Richard Lee of Vancouver, BC
  • Matt Richardson of Woodbridge, ON
  • Ted Brown of Peterborough, ON
  • David McKenzie of Victoria, BC
  • Chris Baryla of Vernon, BC

Final Stage
Getting to the final stage is no easy task, playing though a series of regional qualifying sites in two 4 round tournaments where only 30% of the field moves on following each event. The final stage is a marathon 108 hole, six round event with a full field of 156 players. This year it will be December 1st to 6th at the Orange County National Golf Center and Lodge. Good luck to all the Canadians participating!
