John Daly to Play in Europe in 2009?

I can’t believe after two major championships that ‘Big’ John Daly may be playing in Europe next year! I had the great opportunity to see John first hand at the 2007 TELUS Skins while General Manager at Nickluas North in Whistler. Despite his physical and un-athletic appearance the man obviously has amazing talent. He was first to arrive at 6:30 am each morning, albeit with a Diet Coke and cigarette in hand and last to arrive at the practice tee (Vijay was of course first to the range). While holding his cigarette in his hand he proceeded to hit 140 yard 9 irons with one hand that you could throw a blanket over before he pronounced himself ready to play.

Daly, who made only 5 of 16 cuts on Tour this year, suffered through some rib injuries during the season while playing primarily on sponsors exemptions. With sponsors exemptions dwindling in 2009 the Tour may be without ‘Big’ John, which may be Europe’s gain and America’s (and the PGA Tour’s) loss.
