John Daly returned to golf last week in Spain at the Open de Espana. Daly is currently serving a 6 month suspension on the PGA Tour, handed down December 2008 by Commissioner Tim Finchem. Daly believes there were a number of incidents that lead to his time off as we blogged on back in January.

Daly, sporting his new look created by Loud Mouth Golf, completed a drop-in at Bill Murray’s tournament last week before making the trek to Spain. He’ll play the next four weeks overseas before returning to eligibility on the PGA Tour. Big John managed to make the cut in Spain, but finished 15 strokes back of winner Thomas Levet, at 3 under par. With rounds of 70, 72, 74, 69 his tie for 31st is a nice start to Daly’s recovery. He is one of the most friendly and personable people I have ever met (the 2005 TELUS Skins Game at Nicklaus North) and it is nice to see him on the road to recovery. You can follow Big John on his website!
