I guess it was bound to happen after our blog back in October, “John Daly to Play in Europe in 2009?“, the truth has finally come out. John Daly will be playing in Europe in 2009, but not for the reasons we initially thought. As reported by the Associated Press and confirmed by ‘Big’ John himself, Daly has been suspended for 6 months by PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem.

Daly spoke of four incidents that he believe led to his suspension, the last of which being his jail time under a state law to provide “Assistance to Intoxicated Persons” after passing out in front of a Hooter’s restaurant. There is no word when the 6 month suspension will end.

Here’s hoping ‘Big’ John will turn it around in 2009 and who knows, now that he relies on sponsors’ exemptions the RCGA should be the first in line to extend him one for the RBC Canadian Open.
