Sun Life Financial Golf Industry Skins Game Series
I had been looking forward to this particular round, number four on the year, since this winter when were putting together the schedule for the Sun Life Financial Golf Industry Skins Game Series. Doug Hawley, Managing Director at The Redwoods, graciously offered up some tee times for our 20+ Golf Industry players to come out for lunch, business discussion and golf (with our usually skins game) this past week. The Redwoods has to be one of the few Lower Mainland Golf Courses that I had never played. I’ve been to the property five or six times but always for meetings with no golf involved. Of course Doug set me up with a special golf cart for the round.

The Redwoods
The Redwoods Golf Course is located on 88th Avenue in Langley, BC (a quick 55 minute drive from downtown Vancouver). The Golf Course can play at yardages between 5,452 (red tees) and 6,512 (blue tees) at a Par 71. On this day we played it at about 6,200 yards. The Redwoods is moderately priced for golf in the Lower Mainland with Monday to Friday prices ranging from $25.95 (sundowner) to $55.95 (prime time) and weekends from $25.95 (sundowner, yes the same as the weekday price) to $69.95 (prime time). Junior rates are available seven days per week with senior rates available Monday to Friday. There is also Tail Gate Tuesday which was happening on the day we played and looked like a good time.

The Redwoods Golf Course
I was impressed with the golf course. What a fun, fantastic layout with a mix of tight tree-line holes, wide open swing to the sky holes and decision making holes. I also never thought a golf course in Langley would have some of the elevation changes that The Redwoods had, it made for some really scenic holes. Considering the dry weather we have had (going on 25+ straight days without rain) the golf course itself was in excellent shape, and the dry conditions made it play hard and fast (extra roll on tee shots but tough to spin the ball on the greens). Below are some photos from the round of golf:

Finally… a shot of the setting sun and the 18th green where we enjoyed some food and drinks on the patio following a hard day’s work on the course…

If you get a chance, get out and enjoy a game at The Redwoods… it is well worth it in my opinion!!
