Mayfair Lakes Course Design
I have not really been a fan of the design of Mayfair Lakes Golf course in the past. The amount of water around the course seems to be excessive. It is visually appealing but penalizing. However, I do think it is one of the finest conditioned public courses that Vancouver (Richmond) has to offer. I had the opportunity to play a few weeks ago and had a very enjoyable day.
Playing at Mayfair Lakes
I played Mayfair Lakes Golf & Country Club last week in the Sun Life Financial Golf Industry Skins Series which Tara organizes monthly. This was my fifth or sixth time around Mayfair over the years and in all honesty, the golf course was in amazing shape. I can’t think of anything that was even average. From tee to green (to rough, where I did spend some time) the conditions were fantastic and we really hadn’t hit prime golf season in Vancouver yet (this was in May). The greens rolled true and were quick. The fairways were what impressed me most, they were short, the lies tight and not a lot of divots could be found. All the turf has clearly been well cared for and the grounds crew should be commended for the conditions.
Overall, I really enjoyed the day at Mayfair and was impressed with the golf course, if you haven’t played it recently, I would recommend you get out there for a game soon!
