A total of 156 players will be competing for a $175,000 purse at the Freedom 55 Financial Open at Point Grey Golf & Country Club. This years tournament runs May 26th – May 29th.
Some of the notable players in this year’s event include:
Ryan Williams (Vancouver, BC) – A past Mackenzie Tour winner at the 2014 Freedom 55 Financial Championship, Williams has perhaps the most local knowledge of any player in the field at Point Grey.
Chris Williams (Moscow, Idaho) – A Former World No. 1 Amateur and Ben Hogan Award Winner at the University of Washington, Williams is entering his third season on the Mackenzie Tour and will look to follow the footsteps of fellow Husky alum Nick Taylor to the PGA TOUR.
Austin Connelly (Church Point, N.S.) – The 2015 member of Golf Canada’s National Amateur Team turned professional in 2015 after winning the prestigious Jones Cup as an amateur and is the youngest member on the Tour this season.
Brad Clapp (Chilliwack, BC) – The 28-year-old broke through for his first Mackenzie Tour win last season at The Great Waterway Classic and has a history at Point Grey, having finished tied for second in 2014.
Riley Wheeldon (Comox, BC) – Wheeldon was part of the five-man playoff at last season’s Freedom 55 Financial Open and is coming off a win a the Vancouver Golf Tour’s Battle at the Bear in Victoria, BC.
