Cabin 12 – Victoria, BC
Since the food and the service were both beyond excellent at Cabin 12, it deserved a blog all of its own. We met a friend for breakfast that had been given a recommendation about the food, and so we went. Cabin 12 is located on Pandora Street just past Government (coming from the water) and is a bit difficult to spot. It is not large but does have about 50 seats and an interior with a ‘funky’ but warm and laid-back feel. Our server was very pleasant and very attentive and the food was absolutely delicious.
The Best Eggs Benny EVER!
The menu had some great breakfast choices, with both organic and vegetarian options. But it was the four eggs benny options at the bottom of the menu that attracted the most attention. Our server ‘gushed’ about the quality of the homemade hollandaise and so two of the three of us decided to give it a try. Tara had the Cabin Fever Benny which had both green and red peppers that were nicely sliced instead of diced, red onions and guacamole. The eggs were poached to a perfect medium and the hollandaise was perfectly delicious, as advertised. Tara has some favorite places to eat eggs benny (Hurricane Grill, Aria) and if Cabin 12 was in Vancouver it would be at the top of the list. Jeff had a ham and cheese omelet which came with sour dough toast and potatoes. The omelet had a big portion of back bacon and while the potatoes were deep fried they were real (not from a bag), which we always like.
Once home we checked out their Facebook Fan Page. The info posted “Breakfast, Lunch, and Positive Social Change. Bennies and Breakfast Beer in a warm and funky environment. Real people, Real food and a good chance of Fleetwood Mac on the record player” sums up the place very well. But they should also add that there food is terrific!
Jeff / Tara, so glad you found Cabin 12 while you were here.
Indeed they serve up a nice breakfast. That's why we decided to hold the regular bi-monthly Victoria Tweetups there. They're also on Twitter http://twitter.com/cabin12victoria and tweet specials occasionally.
Thanks for the comment Chris – really loved it! Looking forward to the next breakfast, we both gave them a follow on Twitter. Maybe we can make your next Tweet up when we are on the Island.
Seen your website via yahoo the other day and absolutely find it irresistible. Continue the great work.
