Las Margaritas on 4th in Vancouver
Because we have the benefit of so many great restaurants so close to where we live we rarely venture more than a few blocks from home to find great eats. But when invited to try some place new we are always up for the trip. This trip was still quite a short one, to Las Margaritas at the corner of West 4th and Maple in Kitsilano and being one of the first actually sunny days in Vancouver this season the stroll down 4th was welcome. It was even warm enough to dine on the 50 – 60 seat patio with a view of the street.
The Best Mexican in Vancouver
The house made salsa and chips were delicious and apparently have even been called ’the city’s best’. I guess we were two of the few who did not already know about these great, made fresh daily, treats. The menu had too many choices with everything looking appealing and the server reminded us that all dishes use the freshest ingredients possible. Jeff chose the Roasted Beef Burrito which was served with refried beans and Mexican rice. With three kinds of cheese and sour cream he said it was better than any of the lunches we had on our recent trip to Zihuatenajo, if it would just get warmer here then maybe we wouldn’t have to go all the way to Mexico for our vacation. I had the Tejas, or Mexican Pizza, layered with refried beans, three cheeses, tomatoes, peppers and olives and topped with sour cream. It was delicious as well. The portions were large and the prices were great.
Casual Dining
The atmosphere was casual but not too casual, great for lunch, dinner or a laid back afternoon. Being a working lunch we did not have the opportunity to try the selection of Mexican beer, Margaritas or 20 plus Tequila choices, but the pitcher of Sangria at the table beside us looked very appealing and will be on our list the next time we return which will definitely be soon.
Food – GREAT, Service – GOOD, Atmosphere – GOOD
