University Golf Club – Mistletoe Buffet
Friday was our annual Christmas lunch with our bookkeeper which is always a great time and includes at least one bottle of wine. We try to rotate the lunch between some of our clients. This year we decided to go to University Golf Club for their annual Mistletoe Luncheon Buffet which is always very popular.
Food, Wine and Service
The clubhouse is decorated for the season both inside and out and the staff is very welcoming as you walk in the door. The Mistletoe Buffet is held in the West Point banquet room with views of the golf course. It was a perfect sunny day in Vancouver and we had a table with a great view (guess we must know somebody). The Food and Beverage Manager selected us a bottle of wine which we had not tried before – Meiomi Pinot Noir from Sonoma Valley California – a great choice which we were half way through before salad. We decided to break the buffet down into three sections – salads, cold vegetables, meats and bread first, then main courses, then dessert and cheese. The Red Potato Salad with a mustard dressing and the Roasted Vegetables with balsamic and oil were our favourites. Main course choices included pasta, vegetables, mashed potatoes, salmon, beef and of course roasted turkey with all of the trimmings. All three of us focused on the carved white and dark meat, delicious cranberry sage stuffing, gravy and cranberry sauce. With little room for dessert a few pieces of cheese, grapes and watermelon were a great way to finish. View the full menu here.
As always the service at University Golf Club was terrific! And while buffets are not always our preferred type of meal there is enough choice of great quality food on this buffet for everyone to enjoy. The buffet runs this week (Dec 12th to 16th) at lunchtime as well as Dec 19th to 21st. There are also Dinner Buffets on Dec 15th and 16th that include the same menu plus a roast beef station.
I had a buffet dinner at University Golf Course last summer after a golf tournament I was at. My favorite was the tenderloin done on the grill outside. 🙂
