Parade Day
A couple of Saturday’s ago, before taking in the Rogers Santa Claus Parade, we headed to the Corner Suite Bistro on Thurlow just up from Robson for brunch. We had been there before for dinner but not since they have started serving breakfast and lunch. In case you did not know they are now open at 11am seven days a week – Monday to Friday for lunch and weekends for brunch.

Menu & Food
The brunch menu is limited but has enough variety of items to keep it interesting. After hearing about how great the croissants were we were definitely planning to share one to start. Sadly, they were out. However, our server recommended the pain au chocolat which was amazing. Light and flaky and filled with just enough creamy chocolate but not too much. Yum! For brunch Jeff had the bacon and eggs and I chose the crab benedict. The bacon and eggs is a large portion with four slices of smoked bacon served with oven roasted herbed potatoes and some greens. The crab benedict had a good portion of crab a really good hollandaise that was creamy but not too thick. The benedict was also served with potatoes and greens. The greens had a nice tangy vinaigrette and yummy pickled onions but really were not necessary as the portion was still quite big without them.

Service and Value
The restaurant was almost empty when we arrived and although it did pick up a bit it was still less than half full. Our server started out great but it was difficult at the end of the meal to get our bill. While the food was good there are many other good brunch spots in the area where the food is equally good for less money. However, the pain au chocolat was worth the trip, as I am sure the croissants are, and at $2.50 and $3.00 a good price. We will be stopping for those sometime again soon.
