A couple of weeks ago we decided to bike through Gastown and along the Seawall through Yaletown. It is there that we decided to stop for breakfast at the Marmalade Kitchen and Bar. Since it was already two in the afternoon the ‘All Day Breakfast’ sign on the boardwalk was what attracted us first. The fact that the drink special was a Bellini did not hurt. So, breakfast and a Bellini it was.
The restaurant has a great patio that overlooks False Creek and directly across to the Granville Island Market. It was a great place to watch the action on the ‘creek’ including the comings and goings at the False Creek Yacht Club as well as to people watch. With the path narrowing at the corner where this and two other restaurants sit, the near collisions between people, bikes, roller bladers, skateboards and dogs was quite entertaining. I had a traditional Eggs Benny that was very tasty. The only downside was the deep fried, ‘from a bag’ hashbrowns, which accompanied the eggs. Jeff had the Pancakes with Strawberry compote which was a huge portion and quite good as well. The service was good and the atmosphere great. While, the breakfast did not top some of our other favorites (Wild Garlic, Inlets) we will definitely be back during the summer months to take in the views.
