Our first ‘Triple D’ Stop
Before we left for our driving trip through California I found a few stops from Guy Fieri’s Diner’s, Drive-ins and Dives show that we wanted to check out. Pete’s Breakfast House on Main St. in Ventura California was the first one. 

Famous Breakfast
The breakfast menu at Pete’s is huge and features the pancake roll made famous by Guy Fieri as well as a large selection of breakfast plates, omelettes and other pancakes and waffles. There is also a daily breakfast special. The restaurant is only open from 7am to 2pm daily and is always busy so expect to wait. We arrived on a Tuesday morning at 10am and only had to wait about 5 minutes but right after us the line got longer. The service was fast and very friendly even with how busy the servers were. 

The special of the day was 2 homemade Buttermilk Pancakes with kiwi,strawberries and pecans. The pancakes were light, fluffy and huge and the fruit very fresh. Yum! I forgot to write down the prices of each item but our total bill was just under $30 for two breakfasts, two extra sides and a small and large juice. A good value for what you get.

Jeff ordered the Texas omelette which was a Chili & Cheese Rolled Omelette with homemade Texas chili & beans, & cheddar cheese. The chili was not overly spicy but was very flavourful and the portion large. The pan fried potatoes were a nice crispy golden brown.

We had to try a side of Biscuits and Gravy (which we both gave two thumbs up) and the server did a good job of up-selling a side of crispy bacon. The gravy was rich with a strong sausage flavour just like Jeff was looking for. 

The lemon water jug on the table was a nice touch so that our busy server did not have to worry about refills. We both ordered a glass of fresh squeezed orange juice which did taste fresh and squeezed.  

A full wall mural takes up the entire back wall of the restaurant and Guy Fieri’s trademark picture hangs in a prominent location. We had a great experience. The food, service and value were all very good. The Triple D stamp of approval did not disappoint!
