Cheap Breakfast Eats
I have to say right off the top that this was the best cheap breakfast we have found while dining in Vancouver! I can’t say it is my absolute favorite breakfast because I still love the pricey, delicious, local ingredient options at RainCity Grill. But for $5.95 this veggie hash was damn close!

Winking Judge Pub
Now back a step to where we were. The Winking Judge Pub is open from 9am on weekends and 10am on weekdays and until 2am every day. It is located on the busy corner of Burrard and Smithe with a patio on the sidewalk. It is not the best view and is loud with traffic but is good for people watching. The pub seems more of a night spot and we have been to it to watch a few hockey games – back when there was hockey! We had very low expectations with regards to breakfast but we give everyone a chance once.

I ordered the veggie hash ($5.95) which was potatoes sauteed with red and yellow peppers and onion and topped with two perfectly poached medium eggs. It was served with two small pieces of toasted and buttered french bread and sides of sour cream and salsa. It is so hard to get a perfectly poached medium egg and believe me I have tried. I was so impressed with the eggs and the flavour of the sautéed hash on this breakfast. Yum! The french bread was a nice addition too. 

Jeff ordereed the Ham & Cheese Omelette ($6.95). He was impressed with the two large thick slices of ham and the amount of cheese. The food was served piping hot and the service was quite good too.

We were both impressed by the food, the service and the price. With one meal at $5.95, another at $6.95 and $5.95 beer it was our cheapest meal out in a while. While the patio does not rank in our top 10 we will definitely be back for breakfast in the winter months to sit inside.
