Kelowna Craft Beer
What some people may not know about Kelowna is that the Okanagan city is becoming as well known for its craft beer as it is for its wine. During our time in Kelowna we’ve had an opportunity to try a number of them. In the early days of the pandemic, some were selling limited productions behind a shield at their doors. None were doing Growler fills. Some craft breweries switched over to the Crowler (946ml) cans to sell their brews.
Tree Brewing Beer Institute
Tree Brewing was one of Kelowna’s original craft breweries that started in 1996. Tree is located in downtown Kelowna, only a short walk from where we were staying. On our visit, Tree’s tasting room was open during this time, although with no tastings or Growler fills available. They were offering two Crowlers for the price of a Growler fill (if you brought an empty Growler). They had two IPA’s, which is Jeff’s favourite, luckily they allowed the two Crowlers to be different beers so he could have one of each.
Keep Calm & Rye’d On IPA – 5.5% 50abu
A pretty smooth IPA that is not too hoppy. There was a pretty strong citrus taste as well.
Citratooth IPA – 5.5% 60abu
A great drinking IPA with a good amount of ‘hoppy-ness’. Based on the name, we thought there might be a lot of citrus in this beer, but we really did not taste it in the flavour. The Citratooth IPA was our favourite.
Tree Brewing also offers tour that you can book in advance for $14 (which includes a 5oz Tree beer). The the tour is not currently operating but hopefully soon. We are looking forward to going back and trying some food with the beer when their restaurant re-opens. Opening date is set for May 21. Read a previous Craft Beer blog here.
We, Jeff and Tara Ciecko of CK Golf write two blogs, one is our 19th Hole Blog where we share personal experiences and the other an Industry Blog where we comment on general business and internet marketing best practices, sales strategies and give golf industry related opinions. We have recently started a Zoom call video series of Golf Industry Conversations. We have owned CK Golf for 12 years and provide business services to the golf and other industries. As of July 31, 2016 our life and our business became ‘location independent’. Our 19th Hole Blog is about the places we visit and the things we do. If you have any questions or comments, or happen to be in the same location as us please reach out and contact us anytime.
