We attended the Vancouver Golf & Travel Show at B.C. Place this weekend as we had a number of clients exhibiting and wanted to get a feel for the state of the ‘golf economy’ in B.C. for the coming year. Overall, we were impressed by a number of things. One, the show itself was very busy on Saturday, probably as busy as we have seen it the past number of years. Good news for golf! Two, most the owners and General Managers we spoke to were very optimistic about the coming golf season many predicting an increase of British Columbians travelling within their home province. Finally the number of booths from long haul destinations seemed to be more then usual. This backs up a point we have been making for the past six months, when times are though, increase your promotional and marketing budget.

Following the show on Saturday we were invited down for a behind the scenes tour of the Variety Show of Hearts Telethon (a new client of ours). What an unbelievably huge operation. We were so intrigued that after the tour we tuned in for five hours of the telethon and by midnight they had raised over $1 million. Check out their website to view the Golf Fore the Kids Program that we have been working on with them.
