World Junior Championship
Christmas must be getting close! Canada’s World Junior Championship roster and captain have been named and the first exhibition game is in the books (a 6 to 2 drubbing of Team Sweden)! The 22 man roster includes eight players from the WHL, seven from the OHL, six from the QMJHL and one from the NHL (on loan from the St. Louis Blues is Alex Pietrangelo). The team also includes six players from last year’s squad that won gold, including Patrice Cormier of Rimouski who has been named captain of this year’s group.

Goaltending May Be An Issue
Canada largely has gone with experience this year in the forward and defence positions and has done the same in goal, bringing in two 19 year olds to tend the net for the tournament. However this year is no different and goaltending is always a question if Team Canada is to add another gold medal.  With three exhibition games prior to the tournament, lets hope either Jake Allen (QMJHL) or B.C.’s Martin Jones (WHL) can gain some confidence and get on a hot streak when the tournament begins.
