Week 8 Work for CK Golf Solutions
Compared to other weeks, this week was slow; but it’s exactly what I needed. Don’t get me wrong, I love doing this work, but there is so much school work to be due this week that this amount of internship work was perfect. I worked with some movie software for the first time during this internship, and the first time ever on my macbook. I must be too used to doing it on a PC because it definitely took me a good 15 minutes longer to finish the work. It was handy using the Garage Band software though so I could put music in exactly where I wanted to based on the chorus, verse, and intro. As per usual, I’m writing my weekly blog as part of the internship work and it’s sad to think that there will only be one more post of “Steven the Intern’s Blog.” I don’t know how many people are actually reading these posts but it’s been fun for me because it’s given me a place to vent about school and talk about other things. Next week I get to look forward to experiencing a sales pitch (one where it’s not with a peer from school), a final practicum lunch with Jeff and Tara, and then my final week 9 post.

BCIT Work
As I mentioned above, this week we are finishing up our projects and it’s getting hectic. I actually wrote up a little to-do list just to see what had to be done and what is left to do. I have to finish my section for a group tour project, create content for certain powerpoint slides for my Directed Studies presentation, write up a learning journal for this internship with CK Golf Solutions, write this weekly blog, and then I have a team meeting on Sunday to rehearse for a Monday presentation. It may not sound like much, but all of the school work comes with research, the learning journal is in depth reflections on what has happened during the practicum, and this all has to be organized around Sunday’s Canucks game! I’m a student, it’s our greatest excuse for procrastination, “Oh, but the Canucks are playing.” I am hoping that today I can finish my parts for the group tour project, the powerpoint slides, and the learning journal. One more week of regular school, then finals, them I’m off into the real world of work!

The Satisfaction of Twitter
I only really started using Twitter once I got started with CK Golf Solutions for this internship, and it’s become like a subtle addiction. I don’t tweet non stop, but there is a slight sense of joy when you tweet something that causes a reply from someone or even the infamous retweet. I came across some news about new cars that were coming out, 2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302, 2012 Dodge Charger SRT8, and 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. These cars each have rich history behind them so I looked a little deeper and found some videos and articles talking more about them; so I tweeted about them. The best thing that could have happened did, I got multiple retweets with lots of views, and got a lot of comments about my tweet. After that, I was even more hooked on Twitter. Now, I’m starting to tweet out more information based tweets instead of random notes about what I’m doing; and it is increasing my followers (slowly, but faster than before). That’s what is so satisfying to me, tweeting about something I think is cool or fascinating, and generating interest in people reading it.
