So we made it to Ixtapa yesterday at about 5:15 PM (3:15 in B.C.) after catching a cab from the airport to the hotel. All in all a pretty smooth trip considering the alarm going off at 3:30 am Sunday morning, catching the car service to the airport, dealing with customs, having a donut at Tim Horton’s, all before spending 3 hours in the air to Los Angeles (with a 90 minute layover) then another 2 and a half hours on to Ixtapa. While it was a long day and we are finally in paradise and after one day I’m not sure I’ll be able to get Tara on a plane to Vancouver in two weeks!
I must however comment on last nights Canucks game as nothing for me was more tense then watching the Vancouver Canucks play down to the level of the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night. With a grain of salt as a die hard Nucks’ fan, the Leaf’s looked liked a Pee Wee team playing in the NHL. I don’t really care that the Leafs got a point (in the eastern conference) as it was most important that the Nucks’ got two because Calgary also beat Edmonton in a shootout during hockey day in Canada on the CBC.
How fitting was it that Mats Sundin scored the shootout winner against Toronto for the winner? After all the hype the big Swede may have earned his keep for that one goal. If nothing else it may put Vancouver in the running for the Canadian “center of the universe” title with TO?
It is now Monday morning and we just had our first walk down the beach. It is damn hot, but no complaints about the 33 degree temperatures from us! We stopped for cervesas and a snack at Frank´s, which we had been to 5 years earlier on our last trip to Ixtapa. Being the hard working Canadian that he is, Frank was there again today to greet everyone on their arrival. 2 for 1 beers is always a drawing card for Canadians it seems.
Off to the pool and more specifically the pool swim up bar for the afternoon.
Hola, Jeff & Tara
