Kenny Perry, who until last season was essentially a PGA Tour journeyman, has now emerged as the Tour’s next Tiger! The problem is that Perry, who will turn 49 on August 10th of this year, is in the twilight of his PGA Tour career and quite possibly gearing up for a run at the Senior PGA Tour record books.

Adding an impressive playoff win last week at the FBR Open in Phoenix last week, beating a couple of twentysomethings, Perry now has 4 wins in the past two seasons. This brings his long career to a 13 win total with 9 months still to go in 2009. He’s done all this while producing statistics better then the PGA Tour average in every category with the exception of putting. Perry gives golf its “everyman” and for me, he gives hope that I too may resurrect my Tour ambition in 14 years when I turn 49! I guess I better start practicing?!
