Tobiano Golf Course – 2008 Best New Course in Canada, ScoreGolf & 2008 Best New Canadian Course, Golf Digest
It took us a couple of years, but on the last day of golf for Tobiano Golf Course in the 2009 season we finally had a chance to play the course. We’ve been by and stopped in at the property a couple of times before, but never managed to have enough time to tee it up. Like our last visits, you start to feel the excitment about a mile or two before arriving when you get your first views of the lush green fairways against the light brownish background of the sagebrush. The arrival through a mix of a few of the holes continues to build the excitment as you finally reach the bag drop. A smiling friendly face awaited to take our clubs and gave some brief instructions on where to go next after parking. We had arrived! After a good breakfast in the clubhouse overlooking the course and the lake we were ready to go.

Architect Thomas McBroom created a masterpiece
The golf shop is small but well stocked with all of the necessities and despite the frost delay the staff was able to get all of the groups out quite quickly. The golf couse was in excellent shape, the greens fast and true, the fairways lush and tight with perfectly manicured tee boxes. With five par 5’s and five par 3’s Tobiano’s make-up is a little different then the typical golf course. You can feel that designer Thomas McBroom did not set out to create the norm, but rather use every piece of beautiful land available to him. We think he did, and the finished product is outstanding.

You will lose some balls but…
Some of what we had heard was true, yes you will like lose a few golf balls, but after playing a few holes we realized that there are more areas to “miss it” then appear off the tee. This should make the second and third visits a little more forgiving on the inventory of golf balls in your bag. Having said that, we never really thought much about a lost ball as the secenery availabe absolutley everywhere made it OK. The Uplink GPS system on the Club Car power cart fleet was also very helpful.
We would highly reccomend a visit to Tobiano Golf Course in Kamloops, B.C., but don’t wait until the last day of season as you may want to go out and play a second round right after the first. Visit Tobiano Golf Course for more information on golf and real estate.
