Travel to the Kootenays
The last week of September our road trip through the Kootenays and Okanagan took us to wineries just for fun (see previous blog) and to golf courses and other venues where Jeff was speaking about social media. One of our stops was the Creston Golf Club in Creston, BC. We had never been to Creston before and this was actually only our second time driving on Highway 3 from the Okanagan traveling East. We passed the turn-offs to many other golf facilities along the way and would have to make our 8 day trip into a 16 day trip to see them all. But as a golfer this route could lead you North or South of Castlegar to Christina Lake Golf Club, Granite Point, Balfour Golf Club, Kokanne Springs Golf Resort or Rossland Trail Country Club to name a few.
Creston Golf Course
We headed straight through to Creston which is about 4 hours from Osoyoos. The golf course is located just off Highway 3 and what you see when you pull into the parking lot, though well maintained, does not do the golf course justice. Once out on the course the Selkirk Mountains, Kootenay River Valley and Kootenay Lake are visible from the rolling fairways and large undulating greens. Creston Golf Club has hosted five Provincial Championships and is open for both membership and green fee players. Take you camera for the amazing views of the valley from the double tee box for the par five 7th and par four 12th holes. The Blue Spruce visible from this tee box is also a nice touch.
