Like a lot of young Golf Professionals, James Presnail had an idea! Early on in his employment in the golf business, James grew frustrated with his ability to keep accurate track of demo golf equipment. He thought there had to be a better way then the manual entry system they were currently using
“I was tired of the cumbersome and archaic index card and rubber band methodologies we were employing to track tens of thousands of dollars of demo golf equipment” James stated, “I figured there had to be a better way in the world of the internet” he added.
So armed with an idea and a small budget he set out to modernize the way golf courses tracked their demo equipment and developed a system that would not only track equipment but would also serve as a valuable sales tool for Golf Professionals.
“When I set out to create Demo Inventory I really believed that the golf industry was behind the times in its system of controlling their demo equipment inventory. I felt if I could create an effective, simple and intuitive web based application that would eliminate the paper and pen method the industry would jump on it.”
Demo Inventory turned out to be just what James, a second year Canadian PGA Professional, envisioned and more. In addition to its demo inventory control use, it is an effective tool to monitor a member’s demo equipment habits. Demo Inventory will ensure the golf course knows where its demo equipment is at all times through its many reporting features. It also provides staff with a sales lead list for follow-up with members and the ability to track the sell-through of equipment.
Among the best of features of Demo Inventory is ease of inputting your inventory into the program. Once completed the many reporting features allow you to track each piece of equipment to each customer at your golf course. The reports make Demo Inventory a valuable sales tool as you can easily track which customer has been regular trying drivers or perhaps has been trying a variety of the latest Hybrid clubs. Knowing this information allows the Club’s Professionals to follow through on the sales opportunities.
There is no program to download; all that is required is an internet connection to get started. The Demoinventory.com website includes a comprehensive tool to review the product and has detailed tutorials to walk you through a variety of functions the software provides. Current inventory is easily entered into Demo Inventory by uploading an excel (CSV) spreadsheet, using a bar scanner or entering items manually.
James who is also the Golf Shop Manager at one of Vancouver’s busiest courses, Fraserview Golf Course, spent 4 months developing Demo Inventory for its launch. Now in its inaugural year, Demoinventory.com as the company is often referred to, is live and currently being used by golf courses from B.C. to Manitoba in Canada including Royal Colwood Golf and Country Club, Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club, Marine Drive Golf Club and Niakawa Golf and Country Club to name a few on the growing list of users.
Not one to stand still James is already working hard to enhance the application to cover additional critical rental items including rental management solutions for power golf carts and club rentals.
It is amazing to see what can come from just an idea. The future looks very bright for Demo Inventory. To view the product on-line, visit demoinventory.com.
