Street Closures Announced
Security based road closures will begin as early as January 15th to protect the safety of athletes, officials and the public. Those who live and work on these streets will continue to have access. In addition to the full closures other streets will have single lanes closed for Olympic traffic. For more information visit www.v2010isu.com.
• Expo and Pacific Boulevard (between Nelson St and Quebec St): January 29 to March 2, 2010
• Georgia and Dunsmuir Viaducts: February 5 to March 2, 2010
• Quebec St (between Terminal St and 2nd Ave): January 15 to March 25, 2010
• Quebec St (between Keefer St and Terminal St, southbound only): January 29 to March 2, 2010
• Canada Place and Waterfront Rd: January 27 to February 28, 2010
• Midlothian Avenue (between Dinmont Ave and Ontario St): February 1 to March 2, 2010
• Renfrew Street (between Hastings St and McGill St): January 24 to March 1, 2010

You will have the chance to ride down some of Vancouver’s streets by Rickshaw for 10 days only. Rickshaws are currently prohibited from operating within the city but 20 licenses will be issued for the Games time period. They will be permitted to travel on the pedestrian corridors only and will only operate from February 12th to 28th.
Art Program Open House
VANOC and the City of Vancouver are hosting an Open House Thursday, December 10th at the Vancouver Aquatic Center to discuss the public art projects that have been commissioned for the 2010 Games period. The session will take place from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.
2010 Winter Games Bylaw
Vancouver City Council has now completed clarifications to the by-law that was passed in July 2009. The new bylaw includes details on the regulation of commercial activities, specifies a time frame for these temporary Games related measures and protects freedom of political expression including the right to criticize the 2010 Winter Games. Other changes include an increase in fines for by-law offences. For more details visit the FAQ page.
Musical Performances
The headliners for the Vancouver 2010 Victory Ceremony Concerts were announced on Tuesday and include The Barenaked Ladies, INXS, Theory of a Deadman, Nelly Furtado, Paul Brandt, Loverboy, Trooper, Hedley, Stereophonics, Billy Talent, Great Big Sea and of course Burton Cummings. The Olympic Medal presentations will start at 6:30 will the concerts commencing at 7:30. The full concert schedule and links to each performer’s websites can be found here. A bit of good news for the arts in B.C.
On December 4th, 2010 Legacies now announced a $173,000 contribution to arts organization through its Catalyst program in association with the Province of B.C. the Catalyst program provided funding support for BC arts, cultural and heritage organizations wishing to enhance their artistic and administrative capabilities.
