Day 6 of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics
Day 6 started out as a work day (it does have to be done sometimes) until an out-of-town guest arrived at 3:00 for a three day Olympic visit.  We headed out first to check out the changes made to the viewing area of the Olympic Cauldron.  It is better, with the fence moved about 20 feet closer and a space in the fence meant for picture taking, but it is still a good distance away.  We next took our guest down Robson Street to check out the CTV booth, Robson Square and the action on Granville Street.  We stopped for dinner at the Kingston Pub on Richards which has added extra TV’s for Olympic viewing, had great service, good food and a great atmosphere!  We were just in time to watch Marianne St-Gelais capture a Silver medal in the Ladies 500m Short Track Speed Skating.  Congrats Marianne!

Lunar Fest 2010
After dinner Tara headed back to Granville Street between Georgia and Robson to take in 2010 Lunar Fest.  Lunar Fest includes two programs – The Lantern Forest & Love, Life and Light.  The Lantern Forest features Totem Lanterns as well as Latern trees with lanterns created by thousands of school children from Taiwan and Canada.  Love, Life and Light is a project created by the Public Dreams Society with ten themed laterns created by professional artists of Taiwan and Canada.

Olympic Men’s Hockey
As Tara headed to Granville Street Jeff and Chris headed to Canada Hockey Place to watch Slovakia take on the Czechs.  It was a good game featuring many NHL stars and it was good to see Jarmoir Jagr back on the ice.  Jagr netted a goal as he lead the Czechs to a 3-1 victory.

Yaletown
Following the game Chris and Jeff headed into Yaletown for some post game libations.  Surprisingly it was not overly busy and they got into the V lounge in Earl’s right away.  After a quick brew they moved onto the Cactus Club and again after a quick entry enjoyed some replays of the days events.  Heading home, Robson Street was empty a total difference from 9 hours earlier.

Time to do it all over again today as we head out to watch the Canada hockey game on TV before going to the Victory ceremony.  The concert tonight is Hedley!
