Our Olympics Day 3

We started off day 3 watching some Olympics and Canucks hockey on TV before heading down the street to partake in some Games time activites. I have to admit we were not in the best mood after watching Canada get bronze in speed skating when it looked like we would medal possibly three times.  Seeing the Canucks put up a stinker of a 6-2 loss vs. the Minnesota Wild, in a game Bobby Lui got pulled from before the start of the third period didn’t help.

German Fan Fest
Our day got better with a visit to the German Fan Fest House on our way to the Victory Ceremonies at BC Place.  By Olympic standards it was only a 25 minute wait until we were inside.  We have to say VANOC could learn a few things from the Germans, first and formost, selling beer and food to all of us waiting in line is considered a WIN and kept everyone happy!  Once inside what was really a large 400+ person beer garden, the energy was exciting with the Games on the big screen.  The crowd became even more excited as the TV showed the Germans finishing 1 & 2 in a Luge competition.

Victory Ceremony
Followng our visit to the German House we headed up to BC Place for the Victory Ceremony on BC night.  It seemed VANOC had made some improvements to the security process as it was much quicker getting in than for yesterday’s hockey game.  Once inside, BC Place looked impressive and didn’t appear anything like it does for a Lions game!

The Ceremonies
The ceremonies were awesome, emotional (with many of the athletes crying) and inspiring!  Following the presentations we were treated to an hour long concert by Nelly Furtado.  It was a great night!
