Christmas Spirit is Alive and Well in Vancouver
While it may seem to some that Vancouver is overrun with Olympic Spirit these days, the Christmas Spirit is competing quite well. Despite the constant increase in very large expressions of the Olympic Spirit, aka the mammoth size murals on the outside of The Bay, The Georgia Hotel and now on the Royal Bank, all on West Georgia, Christmas displays have begun to pop up throughout the downtown core and we have started to capture these on film on a daily basis. We do spend a lot of time out in our neighborhood and some of the Christmas displays are just great so we have been finding a new one each day and posting them on Flickr. View the photo set here.

Rogers Santa Claus Parade & Christmas at Canada Place
If you want to catch a bit of the Christmas Spirit here in Vancouver, this week is a great time to start. This Sunday, December 6th marks the sixth annual Rogers Santa Claus Parade. The parade starts at 1:00 pm and will travel down Georgia from Broughton to Howe, turn right on Howe and proceed along Howe to Davie Street. Don’t forget to bring a non-perishable food item for donation. Family Activities will take place from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm in front of the Vancouver Art Gallery. Also on December 6th Canada Place will be hosting Breakfast with Santa (tickets are still available) and the start of ‘Making Spirits Bright’ their annual Light Show on the sails that will take place daily from 6:00 am to 8:00 am and from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm until December 31st.

Christmas Tree Lighting & Christmas Wish Breakfast
Tuesday, December 8th will feature the official lighting of the Christmas tree in front of the Vancouver Art Gallery. The lighting ceremony will take place at 5:30 pm. Also this week on Wednesday, December 9th is the Christmas Wish Breakfast at the Pan Pacific Hotel sponsored by Jack FM, Global TV and Canadian Direct Insurance. Bring a new unwrapped toy between 6:00 am and 9:00 am, enjoy a complimentary buffet breakfast and listen to Larry & Willy broadcast the Jack FM’s morning show. Last year Vancouverites donated 20,000 toys in three hours. For more information about these events visit the rogers santaclausparde, canada place Christms and Jack FM events.

We will also be taking in as much of the Olympic Spirit as possible from February 12th to 28th. What for our blog and Flickr posts daily.
