Vancouver Noise Hours Extended
The City has temporarily extended its daytime noise hours to be 7am to midnight on weekdays and 8am to midnight on weekends. This change is in effect from January 1st to March 31st and includes garbage delivery and regular maintenance and repairs. In addition, from February 1st to February 28th downtown delivery will be allowed 24 hours a day and from February 12th to 28th downtown garbage pick up will begin at 5am on weekdays and 8am on weekends and go until midnight everyday.

Cultural Olympiad Art
January 19th marks the start of ‘High Performance: Evolution and Innovation in Canadian Design’ at Emily Carr University on Granville Island which will run until March 7th. From January 23rd to March 21st the Robson Street Façade of the Vancouver art Gallery will be lit up by innovative and compelling videos presented on a large LED screen. A massive hand-painted mural by Michael Lin will cover the VAG’s Georgia street façade.

Cultural Olympiad Dance
Don’t miss Streb: RAW at the Roundhouse Community Center January 22nd to 24th for five performances only. Plywood, steel, glass and other found building materials are welded into bizarre and wonderful contraptions and used as launching pads for acrobatic jumps, falls and live-action dance stunts. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for children and are still available.

Welcome to Our World is a project that has brought professional artists into local schools over a 3-month period, resulting in the production of a graphic novel that celebrates the children’s excitement about the Games. The finished project will be exhibited in ArtStarts Gallery over several months. An event will be held on January 21st from 1:00 to 2:30pm at the ArtStrats Gallery on Richards as a public celebration of the project.
