Worst Performance Newsletter Category – CK Golf
This year has been a prime example for us of… “do want we say and not what we do.” We have ramped up the content and the frequency of newsletters for our clients. We have focused on email database growth, email surveys and polls, more focused newsletters and all around better content. We have also done a better job of monitoring all of the statistics for subject lines, send times, open rates, clicks and unsubscribes. It has been the season of the newsletter. Except for CK Golf that is.

Time Restraints and Priorities
In order to be location independent and make this nomadic lifestyle work for us we had to give up some work days for travel days. This did not mean we did not complete or even try to exceed the work quality for our clients but instead it meant that our CK Golf news, social and website has suffered. We have learned a lot about travel, time restraints and making the most of partial travel days this last year so as we embark on round two of continuous travel here are some tips we plan to follow ourselves…

  1. Having 30 minutes is better than nothing. You can schedule a round of social posts, update a website page or maybe even complete a whole newsletter in 30 minutes. So don’t use ‘not enough time’ as an excuse.
  2. Content ideas are everywhere, you just need to keep track of them. Keep a list in your smartphone (or on paper) so that each time you think of something good to say you have an ongoing place to jot it down. That way, when you sit down for your 30 minutes you don’t have to think about the content just pick an item from the list produce it.
  3. Photo, photos, photos. Take photos of everything. Even if you don’t know how or when you will use them. You may think of something you want to say down the road and remember you took a photo that relates to it 2 weeks ago. This saves you the time from going to take the picture as you write the content. It also saves you from having to use images that are not your own.
  4. Focus on the Call to Action. This is where our website and newsletter, and others, often fall short. What do we want people to do when they land on a certain page. If you start with the idea of the Call to Action in your header for every post, page, blog, newsletter you write, then the content just starts to flow.

With this in mind we hope to get back to more regular blogging and to launch our regular newsletter series again. We were really consistent with our news in 2016 and have some great archived content. So stay tune for what’s new.

We, Jeff and Tara Ciecko of CK Golf write two blogs, one is our 19th Hole Blog where we share personal experiences and the other an Industry Blog where we comment on general business and internet marketing best practices, sales strategies and give golf industry related opinions. We have owned CK Golf  for 9 years and provide marketing, social media and business services to the golf and other industries. As of August 2016 our life and our business have been ‘location independent’. Our 19th Hole Blog is about the places we visit and the things we do. If you have any questions or comments, or happen to be in the same location as us please reach out and contact us anytime.
