University Golf Club and the BC Golf House Society are pleased to announce “Hickory Golf Sundays” at UGC, a fundraiser for BC Golf House.
University Golf Club has donated tee times from 12:30pm to 1:00pm each Sunday (until the end of February) for Hickory Golf. BC Golf House is providing Sunday golf bags each containing six hickory golf clubs. Every player will receive a 1920’s replica golf ball to play with.
“UGC has always been a big supporter of the BC Golf House and we are pleased to work with the Society on this important fundraiser”, stated Michael Mather, General Manager at University Golf Club. “It is a great opportunity for golfers to experience how the game used to be played”, he added.
Mike Riste, Historian for BC Golf House Society commented that “playing a round this way will, without a doubt, give today’s golfers an appreciation of how the game was played in the 1920’s.”
Golfers will play 10 holes on the back 9 at UGC (including the alternate hole). The cost to participate is $30 per player and includes the green fee, rental hickory golf clubs and a 1920’s replica golf ball. Closest to the pin and long drive contests will also be awarded each week. All proceed’s go to the BC Golf House Society.
To register for any Sunday golfers are asked to call Mike Riste, two days in advance, at the BC Golf House at 604-222-4653.
