TELUS World Skins Game
The TELUS World Skins game will be played this year for the first time in Halifax at the Glen Arbour Golf Course. The first Canadian Skins Game was held in 1993 at Devil’s Pulpit Golf Club in Caledon, Ontario, and during its 19-year history has seen some of the biggest names in professional golf compete at Canada’s top golf destinations, including Jack Nicklaus, Sergio Garcia, Phil Mickelson, Fred Couples, Mike Weir and Greg Norman. Glen Arbour Golf Course is one of Atlantic Canada’s premiere golf destinations.
Glen Arbour Golf Course
The course opened in 1998 and was designed by noted Canadian Golf Course Architect Graham Cooke. Glen Arbour Golf Course is owned and operated by Annapolis Group Inc., a land development company. At 6,800 yards in length, Glen Arbour Golf Course is not long by today’s standard but the combination of natural hazards, elevation changes and tricky bentgrass greens challenge all players from professionals to beginners.
TELUS World Skins Field
The international field is filled out with a past TELUS Skins game winner, former US Open winner and defending RBC Canadian Open champion. They are all Nike staff players. The field announced on Thursday includes Stephen Ames, Lucas Glover, Carl Pettersson, Paul Casey and Jhonattan Vegas.
We were proud to be part of the team that hosted the TELUS Skins game at Nicklaus North in Whistler in 2005. That event featured Jack Nicklaus (course designer), John Daly, Vijay Singh and Stephen Ames (eventual champion).
