Early Summer in the Golf Business 
Every golf course has Members, Passholders or Regulars. And some will test you at every turn. As we wrote about in our Core Values blog, you have to stick to business first and relationships second. In particular, lately, as the “official” golf season has gotten going (post Masters week) we think regularly about points 2 and 4 from that blog. They are Consistency and Business First. Your Core Values can be tested every day. Every case that your golfers present is unique (particularly in their minds). There is not always an easy answer but you have to stay true to your core values.

Sometimes the Answer Is… NO!
Every question, comment or challenge boils down to the above to points. Particularly if you apply the 10-80-10 rule (10% of golfers will love you know matter what you do, 80% are pretty indifferent and go with the flow and 10% will hate you always and regardless of what you do). The latter 10% challenge you at every turn (and are the loudest of the group). Stick to your guns, be consistent and think of the business first. Our favourite saying is “if we do it for one are we prepared to do it for everyone”! If they answer is NO then the answer is NO for everyone. So… Sometimes the Answer is NO! You can’t please everyone.
