What’s Happening in Social Media
Social Media platforms add new features, and sadly take some of the good ones away, with their constant barrage of updates. We try to keep on top of the news and here are a few new features and options that we are interested in from our two favourite platforms.

Tara's Instagram Video FeedInstagram
On August 31st Instagram finally launched a feature that let’s you zoom in on a picture. You can now pinch to zoom in on photos and videos that are in your feed as well as on profile pics. It is now easy to actually see the expression on someones face in that pic standing on top of that mountain so far away! Sorry Android users this feature is currently not yet available for you.

In other Instagram news… Instagram launched it’s new in app live events video channel at the American Music Awards this week. The feature is found in the Instagram Explore tab and will show event clips live as they are happening by both curating content from other people as well as providing original Instagram video. The section will be personalized to each user’s taste, with some kind of algorithm of course, so you’re likely to see videos from artists you like or sports teams you follow. So be careful what and who you follow.

Twitter
While this feature began it’s worldwide rollout in the spring many Twitter users still do not know that you can take and share a video right in a direct message. For those that use DM instead of texting you can show your friends the great beach you are on without leaving the app.

Twitter DM Options

Now that Twitter has removed the 140 character limit from direct messages, given the ability for users to choose to receive direct messages from anyone and added the video feature, many companies have turned to Twitter DM as their main method to provide customer technical support. When dealing with Shaw on a TV or internet problem (when we had a home service) we always used Twitter first. The response time was terrific.

If you see or hear of any updates that interest you, good or bad… please share!
