Tee Times
With tee times at a premium in 2020 (and we expect the same in 2021) with thought we would share an old idea we had years ago. To our knowledge no one has implemented this at their golf course, but we still think it is a valid idea.

Sell An Annual Tee Time
We’ve pitched this idea for a number of years and still think it is an opportunity for some golf courses. Sell a tee time, say 9:00am on Saturday morning to a foursome, every week of the season. Of course it would be pre-paid and non-refundable. Using a foursome (we would only do this for a foursome) if you were open year round you could generate up to $20,000 ($100 green fee x 4 players x 52 weeks). There are numerous advantages to this including:

  • Early season positive cash flow
  • Guaranteed revenue regardless of the weather
  • Customer loyalty
  • Incremental revenue from food and beverage and retail items

You could really play this up with some added perks and treat this foursome as a VIP to use it as a marketing tool. Ultimately the purchaser would likely be introducing new golfers to the course in order to fill each week’s time slot with four golfers.

We’d love to hear from a golf course owner or operator who gives this a try. Let us know and leave a comment.
