What is Organic Social Media Reach?
Organic reach is the number of people who have seen your post through unpaid distribution. The benefits of organic reach is that you can publish posts for free. ~ The Digital Marketing Institute

Why is Organic Reach Hard?
Simply put, businesses/ or social media platforms need to produce positive ROI, just like your golf course. Social media sites are a very crowded space. It is difficult to get readers to see your posts and the way that your readers are served up content is constantly changing. Sometimes you hit the jackpot with a funny post, engaging picture or other great content that gets shared by your followers. But consistency/ frequency as well as engaging content are the keys to getting more of your posts seen without paying for them.

What’s an Algorithm?
Social media algorithms are a way of sorting posts in a users’ feed based on relevancy instead of publish time. Social networks prioritize which content a user sees in their feed first by the likelihood that they’ll actually want to see it. ~ Sprout Social

It’s becoming an increasingly crowded world on the internet. Advertisers go where the eyeballs are… Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Google and the like. So to make room, social media sites are continuing to change their algorithms so that you (the consumer) see more paid content and less organic content.

Here are our top 6 ways to keep your organic marketing relevant:

  1. Ask for engagement. The like, comment, retweet etc. can go a long way.
  2. Provide value. Make sure your posts are relevant to your customers.
  3. Provide quality. In today’s internet world, quality content will dominate social platforms.
  4. Interact & respond. Be sure to do this with every comment that comes your way on a social platform.
  5. Be consistent. Don’t post once then duck and hide.
  6. Experiment. Try different things and monitor the results to improve ‘the way you do things’.

Social networks will likely never let organic content die, so keep at it!

Remember: The purpose of social media marketing is to increase your reach and to grow your revenues.
