National Golf Course Owners Association BC Chapter
Last week we attended the NGCOA BC Chapter Island Meeting held at Arrowsmith Golf Course in Qualicum, BC. The topics included a BC Chapter update, a review of Golfmax suppliers (which save golf courses money), Liquor Licensing, Social Media and Golf to Conquer Cancer. The meetings are about 3 hours long with lunch and golf to follow. If you do have a chance to attend one of these sessions it is definitely worth your time. A list of the upcoming dates can be found on the NGCOA website.
Golf to Conquer Cancer
During the meeting a new partnership was presented between the Canadian Golf Industry and Golf to Conquer Cancer – a “National Golf Fundraising program that will raise funds for Personalized Cancer Medicine in a big and bold way through a partnership with the Canadian Golf Industry”. The reason that we found this program so interesting is the concept itself:
4 Players – 4 Clubs – 4 Hours – 4 Cancer
The program addresses many of the issues facing the golf industry today -speed of play, interesting and unique twist, less knowledge needed (in choosing between 4 clubs instead of 14) and FUN in support of a good cause. The program can introduce new golfers to your facility in a fun and non-intimidating environment and at the same time raise awareness of golf in general and how the game of golf can give back to communities.
Golf courses are asked to sign up to host an event on July 25, 2013. Golf courses that participate will be guaranteed 50% green fee revenue, $30 food & beverage revenue and $15 cart revenue in addition to pre-marketing campaigns, onsite signage and event materials.
