Apple’s WorldWide Developer Conference (WWDC) 2016
WWDC 2016 took place on June 13th and Apple as usual announced a whole host of enhancements, new product updates, features and more. Many of the updates are well over our heads and some (like the Apple watch) we are just not interested in. So for those of you interested in it all here are a few places you can go…

Here’s Everything Apple Announced at WWDC 2016 – Wired (scroll down the announcements for Suri)

The 13 biggest announcements from Apple WWDC 2016 – The Verge

Siri on Apple iPhoneThe Future of Siri
One important product update that we were interested in was the improvements to Siri. In our opinion Siri has been, to date, a fairly useless tool, especially in Canada. The few times we have tried to map locations or make a call did not work out well. But things are about to change – or so we are told.

Siri is going to be a focus for Apple development. Some are even calling Siri the ‘key’ to Apple’s future. Here is a list of the upcoming enhancements to Siri announced at WWDC16:

  • Available on Mac computers not just tablets and phones
  • Ability to add things to your calendar, do quick research and calculations, set reminders, playing music, even find files
  • Enhanced for more complex tasks on Apple TV
  • TV search capabilities will include YouTube
  • Able to open services and give voice commands to services and apps not made by Apple
  • Suri is being taught context not just content

We will be sure to try out all of these tools as soon as they are available on on travels in both Canada and the US and report back on how they work.
