Follow-Up Blog
This is a follow-up to our blog a couple of weeks ago, Resort Fees Are The New Hidden Fees. We shared the post on social media and it got re-shared a number of times including by a Twitter account called Kill Resort Fees. Intrigued… yup, so we checked out their website, Kill Resort Fees.
Kill Resort Fees
The website was built and is managed by Lauren Wolfe in February 2016 after travelling and being charged Resort Fees without being informed of the additional costs. Among the stories we read on the website are a whole section of ‘Resort Fees in the News‘. Most of them make for a pretty interesting read. As we have been travelling for almost two years now we have certainly paid our fair share of Resort Fees. Ms. Wolfe (and others) make a pretty compelling argument why you should not pay them. There are even some suggestions how to get out of the Resort Fees, although I’m not sure if they will all work. We might have to give them a try. There is also a list of the worst offenders for charging Resort Fees, interestingly Las Vegas ranks #1 on that list. We spent almost three weeks in Las Vegas at three different properties and paid Resort Fees with each stay.
If you are planning to travel… there is some great information and while some Resorts publish the Resort Fees with the room rate, not all of them do. Buyer beware!
