This is the first in a three part blog series about Google My Business! Part 1

What is Google My Business?
Google My Business (or GMB the acronym) is a free tool to allow business owners to manage how your business appears in Google search. GMB also allows customer reviews (and responses by you). You can add photos and enhance your listing. There are also some cool analytic features.

GMB is a very effective and free way to improve the organic search engine optimization (SEO) for your business. If you haven’t claimed your GMB page you need to do it now!

Getting Started
To claim  your GMB page simply login to your Google account. If you don’t have one, set one up (for free) immediately.

  1. Login to your Google account.
  2. Go to http://google.com/business and click the start button near the top right corner of the page.
  3. Enter your full business name.

From there it is as simple as following the prompts. You will be asked for your business address, category, hours of operation, phone number, website etc.

You will be asked to verify the business listing. We would suggest a text message (but you can choose whatever option you like). Have some fun with it but remember it can take up to three days for your changes to take effect.
