The Chilliwack Golf Club, established in 1958, is a semi-private facility located between Chilliwack and Abbotsford, only 45 minutes from Vancouver. It features magnificent tree lined fairways, a creek that meanders through the back nine and breathtaking mountain vistas in every direction. Members and the public have enjoyed the Fraser Valley’s most popular golf course for over 60 years. With a reputation for world class conditioning (year-round), Chilliwack has played host to every major Provincial Championship.

Reporting to the General Manager and working closely with the Food and Beverage Management Team, this position is responsible for the successful administration of all event related tasks and to ensure event department financial targets are achieved.

Candidate must be able to recognize the importance of contributing to a positive environment and to support team members so that they can provide excellent service/experience to members, guests and event organizers.

The Banquet & Event Manager will develop and lead a team that includes the following positions: Sales Manager, Wedding Coordinator, Tournament Coordinator and Banquet Captains.

The successful candidate will have excellent administrative, leadership and communication skills.

The Event & Banquet Manager job description is broken down as follows:

  • Oversee the event department to ensure each event at Chilliwack Golf Club is a success
  • Department administration including human resources, scheduling of all event related staff, liquor licensing/fire/health & safety compliance and inventory management
  • Communicating in advance with appropriate departments and outside vendors
  • Ensuring all event facilities are in top quality condition
  • Support the Event Sales Manager, Coordinators and Supervisors by providing the tools needed to successfully perform their duties
  • Hands on coordination of approximately 25% of all events at Chilliwack Golf Club
  • Post event review to ensure each event was a success or to implement change to resolve any issues

The Banquet & Event Manager is required to have the following:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required
  • Proficiency in the following software required: MS Office
  • Positive interpersonal and customer service skills required
  • Strong project/event management skills required
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of position
  • Must be able to meet deadlines as required
  • Work efficiently in a non-supervised position
